Aussie State Of The Climate Report – Oh Dear.

The Australian Labor/Green Government have instructed their paid lackeys at the CSIRO and The Bureau Of Meteorology to support their new carbon tax which they dutifully do – see below.

Liberal Party – FAIL

Unfortunately, the Aussie Conservatives have their own not-quite-so-big “Direct Action Plan” Carbon – lets not call it a tax – Tax, and the ABC use this to justify not giving any right of reply at all to any Global Warming Sceptics.

One of the cleverest things that the “Climate” revolutionaries did was to create an industry, and an industry votes and an industry lobbys.
You cannot tell everybody who has installed solar panels on their house that they were fools, that the planet is cooling instead of warming, and then point out that it will take decades to pay for their trendy panels, even given our ever soaring power bills.

Here is Greg Hunt on Andrew Bolt’s Show last weekend peddling the “trust us we won’t carbon tax you so much” message and pathetically bleating – “Just this morning I looked at evidence from NASA that showed a hundred and fifty years of – of change – and, um, just progressive, progressive, increases, but… “  (this is no doubt from the resident Greenie, James Hansen, of NASA’s embarrassment, GISS, making models of future doom, ignoring satellite data and adjusting surface temperature data to “compensate for errors”)
and here is Greggy again standing in front of a Solar Heating banner with a very dubious Tony Abbot pretending to be greener-than-Green and that the solar industry, no longer flavour of the month, will not be allowed to wither away and die a natural death under the Liberals as it is under Labor -
Find The Liberals “Direct Action Plan” here -
hidden amongst it is this little gem -
“Businesses that undertake activity with an emissions level above their “business as usual” levels incur a financial penalty. The value of penalties will be on a sliding scale at levels commensurate with the size of their business and the extent to which they exceed their “business as usual”  levels”
‘Scuse me, but I don’t quite get the difference between “a financial penalty” imposed by a government and a Carbon Tax/ETS imposed another government – it is just a matter of degree.

The trite claim in their “Direct Action Plan” that
“Our policy will cost $3.2 billion over 4 years, while the ETS costs $40.6 billion over the first four years.”
makes a mockery of their claim that the Labor/Greens government is making Australian industry uncompetitive.
The plain, unpalatable, fact is that they are also imposing “financial penalties” which will make Australian industry uncompetitive – it is just a matter of by how much – they support it principle and we must trust them to keep their tax low. Yeah – Right!

Here is my reaction to this AUS ABC propaganda interview – regular readers will have already spotted the deliberate mistakes.
CSIRO releases State of the Climate report
Updated March 14, 2012 09:14:01
CSIRO chief executive Dr Megan Clark and Bureau of Meteorology director Dr Rob Vertessy discuss the State of the Climate report.
.
“the dent in global temperatures is actually quite small in fact” - but there is a “dent” – “natural forcings” are more than capable of neutralising any human fossil fuel effects – so why do we need to panic?!
.
“air temperatures have risen by about a degree over the last century” - big deal – human carbon dioxide output only took off after WW2 and so before that the rise in temperature was due to “natural forcings”
.
“sea levels have risen by about 110 cm over the last century” - again -  human carbon dioxide output only took off after WW2 and so before that the rise in sea level was due to “natural forcings”.
“and the projections are for further increases” - note these are not scientific predictions – computer models make “projections” based on assumptions – there is no way of scientifically predicting future climate.
.
“and the year before was the hottest year on the global record” -“lies damned lies and statistics” – “the global record” commenced shortly after the invention of the thermometer which coincided with the end of the “Little Ice Age” around 1800 and global tempertaures have rebounded since then.
This rebound cannot be due due to carbon dioxide levels because human carbon dioxide only affected the atmosphere after WW2.
The fact that global temperatures rebounded after the”Little Ice Age” does not establish a causal link – it is pure coincidence.
The almost exponential rise in the global carbon dioxide level since the 1950s has in fact had NO discernable effect,  coincidental or otherwise, on global temperature which actually dropped in the 1970s, levelled out again around 2000, and now has started to fall.
.
“what we find now is that CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is rising sharply and is now about 390ppm” - this implies that ever increasing carbon dioxide levels produce ever increasing temperature when in fact the global warming effect of CO2 is almost saturated and you could triple it and only produce a very small increase in temperature.
The “projections” of the CSIRO and BOM rely on one of the afore-mentioned computer-modeled assumptions (for which there is no proof – on the contrary – it never actually happens!) of a positive feedback on the Earth’s real GHG – water vapour.
.
As you can see from their own graphs below, the level of human carbon dioxide took off almost exponentially only in the 1950s – and it has had no effect on the steadily rising sea level and the steadily rising global temperature.
Note also that both graphs have, on the contrary, actually stopped rising and started to fall recently – the UN IPCC have made a false assumption in all their “projections” that “natural forcings” can be dismissed as irrelevant because they are very slow and very long term compared to the human influence.

Perhaps the billionaires should be using more of their money and power to “deny” Climate Change – or perhaps they just cannot compete financially – never stand between a politican and a few billion a year in revenue!
