Here’s Stuff I missed for last week or so.

The world needs to prepare for a climate sceptic defeating Obama

Sinking Pacific island Kiribati considers moving to a man-made alternative
By Kathy Marks, Asia-Pacific Correspondent

” …Vulnerable Pacific nations have acquired a powerful new ally, the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, who visited Kiribati on his way to the Auckland conference. In a speech on Tuesday, Mr Ban warned: “For those who believe climate change is about some distant future, I invite them to Kiribati. Climate change is not about tomorrow. It is lapping at our feet – quite literally in Kiribati and elsewhere.” … “

This didn’t get much of a run in the MSM because it is ridiculous.
Here are the two main problems with it.
ONE – The sea level cannot be rising due to Global Warming because THE GLOBE ISN”T WARMING!
TWO – These are coral atolls and coral can grow much, much faster than the sea can rise from melting ice caps – which are not melting anyway!
Like – er – DURH!

New data shed light on sun’s climate role
Tuesday, August 30, 2011

” …The findings are a strong indication that cosmic rays striking the planet have a similar effect on atmospheric chemicals and stimulate the creation of clouds. It follows that spikes in the intensity of the sun’s cosmic rays stimulate the growth of more cloud seeds, resulting in more widespread cloud cover and a cooling effect at ground level.

For dogmatists who believe humans are heating the earth by allowing so-called “greenhouse gases” to billow into the atmosphere, countervailing evidence indicating the sun plays a primary role in climate change is a faith-shaker. This is akin to saying “God is dead” to Al Gore and his fellow believers who insist their junk science is “settled” and no do-overs are allowed.

The green utopians’ latest setback contributes to a growing backlash against the astronomical cost in dollars and jobs of restricting carbon-dioxide emissions worldwide on the basis of a dodgy theory. Before summer recess,… “

Obama halts EPA air-quality regulations
By Dave Boyer
Friday, September 2, 2011

” …The new regulations on ozone ambient air quality standards would have cost the U.S. businesses anywhere from $19 billion to $90 billion per year to comply with, a figure mentioned by the president earlier this week in a letter to Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. Congressional Republicans and industry leaders have been sparring with the administration over the increasing cost of government regulations, arguing that the burden is preventing firms from hiring more workers.

The issue found Mr. Obama caught between environmentalists, an important part of his liberal base, and his push to stimulate the faltering economy. The president killed the proposed air-quality standards just hours after the latest unemployment report showed that employers hired no new workers in August, and the unemployment rate remained at 9.1 percent nationwide…. “

Climate4you Update July 2011
Posted by jennifer, August 21st, 2011

” …“All five global temperature estimates presently show stagnation, at least since 2002. There has been no increase in global air temperature since 1998, which however was affected by the oceanographic El Niño event. This stagnation does not exclude the possibility that global temperatures will begin to increase again later. On the other hand, it also remain a possibility that Earth just now is passing a temperature peak, and that global temperatures will begin to decrease within the coming years. Time will show which of these two possibilities is correct.”
