Stuff I Missed During The Week

A big week – left a lot out.

The Intellectual Bankruptcy Of A Believer.
I have always wondered if “Climate” would collapse like McCarthyism or just fade away.
I should have know better.
“Climate” is a belief system.
The reaction to being confronted about it is the same as a Muslim defending Allah or a bishop defending the Pope or a creationist defending Genesis.

This article is a piteous pseudo-intellectual, self-righteous, defence of a demagoguery that was going to change the world and failed.

For climate debate facts watch ABC fiction
3 October 2011
Clive Hamilton

…Crownies scriptwriter Chris Hawkshaw must have attended a few public meetings to take notes on the boorish tactics of the deniers – bombastic old white blokes who stand to declaim their crazy views, insensitive to how foolish they appear and deaf to all counterarguments. Healy captures perfectly the ignorant self-certainty and Aspergerish insensitivity so typical of the breed.

I have to take my hat off to Hawkshaw. In 15 minutes of sharp dialogue and brilliant characterisation he has done more to skewer the arguments and expose the true character of climate deniers than my three books and 15 years worth of newspaper articles and public lectures.

More power to ABC TV drama. Meanwhile, over in its news and current affairs programs, the ABC continues to present the fiction that the there is a genuine debate about the science of climate change, repeatedly giving unqualified climate deniers equal time with serious scientists.

It is well known that organised climate denial, accepting it can never win the scientific debate, set out explicitly to exploit the media’s unthinking commitment to giving “both sides”. As the infamous memo put it “Doubt is our product”…. “

There was, of course, NEVER, any attempt at balance of “Climate” in the media, only when “The Right” noticed that they were all Leftists, and it just didn’t warm, was it eventually questioned.

So Sorry To Hear This.
I was a big fan of Mike – his prose and intellectual rigor were superb.

Hero of science. Hope you meet the late great John Daly up there and give yourselves a big pat on the back when “The Planet” vindicates you.

Nuclear Scientist and Hawaii Reporter Columnist Mike Fox Dies After Battle with Cancer
Mike Fox

“BY MALIA ZIMMERMAN – When Nuclear Scientist, Dr. Michael R. Fox, first contacted Hawaii Reporter several years ago, the then Kaneohe resident was concerned that the public was not getting the correct information about such controversial science topics as man made global warming, sea levels, sun spots, nuclear science, nuclear power, solar and windmills.
He was passionate about changing this by publicizing real science, and as a result, launched a column called Fox Energy and Environment Reports in Hawaii Reporter in 2003…. “

I was somewhat surprised by the colourful language until I saw it was from Marc Morano!

IPCC Lying About Their Past

“Snowtober’ fits U.N. climate change predictions
While the Northeast is still reeling from a surprise October snowstorm that has left more than a million people without power for days, the United Nations is about to release its latest document on adaptation to climate change.
The report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is expected conclude that there is a high probability that man-made greenhouse gases already are causing extreme weather that has cost governments, insurers, businesses and individuals billions of dollars. And it is certain to predict that costs due to extreme weather will rise and some areas of the world will become more perilous places to live.

Complete bullshit. They predicted the exact opposite.

IPCC Draft 1995
A “striking” retreat of mountain glaciers around the world, accompanied in the Northern Hemisphere by a shrinking snow cover in winter.

IPCC 2001 Ice Storms
Milder winter temperatures will decrease heavy snowstorms

The alarmist climate science community seems to be incapable of ever telling the truth about anything. I posted the IPCC links in the comment section of the LA Times article, and they were taken down within five minutes. The last thing these people want is an honest discussion.

Let’s prize climate skepticism

” …Environmentalists denounce climate skeptics as science deniers. But have the CERN scientists been denounced as Einstein deniers? No. The scientific community is shocked by the discovery but keeping an open mind – even about something as firmly established as the theory of relativity.

To say 95 percent of scientists believe in global warming suggests, incorrectly, that the skeptics are loonies. In fact, they have included Nobel laureates such as Ivar Giaever, Robert B. Laughlin, and Norman Borlaug. Giaever recently resigned from the American Physical Society in protest against its insistence that global warming is “incontrovertible.” He declared, “The claim … is that the [global average] temperature changed from 288.0 to 288.8 degrees Kelvin in 150 years, which (if true) means to me . . . that the temperature has been amazingly stable.”… “

Our carbon tax future has started

” ..Just let that sink in. In just one year, China increased its CO2 emissions by more than our ENTIRE EMISSIONS.
And we of course are not intending to cut our emissions anywhere close to zero, or even significantly.
At least we can be grateful that Gillard drew the line at the 19th century, declining to take us all the way back to a pre-1788 future.
We are aimed at cutting our emissions by just 5 per cent by 2020. As against China increasing its emissions by at least 1000 per cent of our total by 2020.
Further we don’t actually intend to cut by even that 5 per cent. Treasury projects that we will be buying a big slice of our emission cuts from overseas.
We will be paying billions to foreigners — hopefully not Nigerians — for a bit of paper which will authorise us to keep our lights on…. “
