No let up in greenhouse gas rise

Concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere rose to yet another high in 2010, according to the UN’s weather agency.
This does not matter – The effect of carbon dioxide as a GHG is now inversely logarithmic – i.e. it is almost saturated – you could double it overnight and get less than 1 degree of warming.

Levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) – the major contributor to climate change – rose by 2.3 parts per million between 2009 and 2010.
How can carbon dioxide be the “major contributor to climate change” when it is rising so rapidly and yet the the global temperature is not – clearly there are other more power natural effects at play, neutralising it.

That exceeds the average for the past decade of 2.0 parts per million, the World Meteorological Organization says.
Big deal! 2 parts per million! CO2 is a trivial 390ppm – the Earth’s GHG is water vapour – on average 10,000 ppm and much more powerful in its effect.

The latest round of UN climate talks begin in South Africa in two weeks.

“The atmospheric burden of greenhouse gases due to human activities has yet again reached record levels since pre-industrial time,” said WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud. Concentrations of CO2 reached 389 parts per million in 2010 – the highest such concentrations since the start of the industrial era in 1750. CO2 is the greenhouse gas of greatest concern to policy makers looking to stem human-induced climate change.
Again, this does not matter – The effect of carbon dioxide as a GHG is now inversely logarithmic – i.e. it is almost saturated – you could double it overnight and get less than 1 degree of warming. The “concern” is based on an assumption in computer models that a trivial temperature rise in the trivial GHG CO2 is going to be amplified by an increase in global humidity. Neither is demonstrated to be occurring in the face of this huge increase of human CO2 – waiting,

The WMO said levels of methane – considered the second most important greenhouse gas – had risen after a period of relative stabilisation from 1999 to 2006.
To call CO2 a GHG when it is saturated in its effect and is about 0.039% by volume of the atmosphere while water vapour is, on average 1% by volume, and is more powerful, and is not saturated in it’s effect is a big stretch, to call methane at a barely detectable 0.000179% a GHG is just insulting. To be pedantic, water vapour is the first GHG and CO2 is the second and you need very complex equipment to even detect methane in air.

This could be due to the thawing of the Northern permafrost and increased emissions from tropical wetlands.
And there “could” be fairies at the bottom of my garden. The northern permafrost is NOT melting, because The Globe is NOT warming – and methane levels actually fell slightly! DURH!

Nitrous oxide, emitted into the atmosphere from natural and man-made sources, including biomass burning and fertiliser use, was 323.2 parts per billion in 2010 – 20% higher than in the pre-industrial era.
Nitrous oxide! Nitrous oxide! Fer crissake, nitrous oxide is 0.00003% in air – PUL-EASE – spare us this crap!

The WMO numbers follow the recent release of data from the US Oak Ridge National Laboratory, showing a huge surge in carbon dioxide emissions from 2009 to 2010. The climate talks in Durban, South Africa, run from 28 November to 9 December and are likely to test global resolve to tackle greenhouse emissions.
Perhaps if we waited for human “GHG’s” to have some DEMONSTRATED as opposed to theoretical effect on global climate we could save a lot of time, trouble and money!
