Victoria – Don’t Mention the Climate.

Sometimes it’s what they don’t say!

I didn’t experience the Victorian Election advertising campaign, but there has been a deafining silence on savin-da-planet from the ALP down there.

The issue has not been mentioned yet by the new Premier.

These AUS ABC greenies are dismayed by the lack of action on “Climate” – GOOD

” …A recent report from the Climate Council found that Victoria currently has the worst policy environment for renewables in Australia, costing the state an estimated $4 billion in lost investment and 3,000 jobs.

Last month saw 100 wind tower manufacturing jobs lost in south-west Victoria after the Federal government announced it wanted to significantly reduce the Renewable Energy Target (RET).

The Coalition dismantled the Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) after the extension of the Federal RET in 2009 and removed the 20 per cent by 2020 Emissions Reduction Target from the Climate Change Act in 2012. They have no election commitments for reinstatement but have not ruled out further investment in renewable energy.

Labor has said it will consider reintroducing the VRET and will remove the Coalition’s wind farm rules which require a two kilometre buffer between turbines and houses.

The Greens are committed to reinstating the VRET, removing the wind farm buffer and setting a Victorian Emissions Reduction Target of at least 40 per cent from 1990 levels by 2020.

However, Mr Wakeham said that the Coalition’s commitment to new coal mines and Labor’s silence on the issue proves that both major parties are still not truly committed to climate change action…. “
